Bot 1 is a character from Randy Gaul’s developing film project Realms, which explores the origins of humanity. Seen in profile, its hooked face, recessed cavities, and overlapping plates occupy an uncertain border between living anatomy and an engineered body. Tubes resemble tendons, and armor begins to suggest skin. The careful modeling makes this impossible creature feel tangible, offering a glimpse of a larger story that asks where we come from and how much of that story remains unknown.
