No Filters

Three faces occupy the canvas, their features covered and reworked by cool green and blue passages. Hands gather near mouths and cheeks, drawing attention to the gestures through which we present or protect ourselves. The title creates a productive tension with the image: what appears unfiltered is still layered, mediated and difficult to read. Ceballos keeps beauty and uncertainty close together, turning a group of portraits into a question about how much a visible face can reveal.
