An illuminated rim cradles a sphere beneath a crown of slender branches. Radiance explores the balance between iconographic shapes, bringing measured curves into conversation with irregular growth. Its light can be changed under the viewer’s direction, illuminating a dense landscape of acrylic paint and resin. Randy Gaul uses the branching crown to amplify an eye-like expression. The sculpture’s changing illumination invites a continuing encounter with its surfaces, allowing a familiar arrangement of shapes to take on an unexpectedly watchful presence.
