A cast iron pipe elbow, PVC plumbing pieces, band clamps, and polished glass cabochons become the anatomy of Mantis Lamp. Randy Gaul built the work from actual job site remnants, giving discarded components an unexpectedly lively presence. The cabochons magnify illuminated, otherworldly landscapes beneath them, inviting a closer look into the object’s small worlds. Tall feathers complete the reference to a praying mantis, bringing an expressive silhouette to a construction that joins sculpture, light, and imaginative reuse.
