One large eye gives this small hovering creature an unmistakable focus. Pointed projections rise from its head while slender limbs trail into open space, making the silhouette both alert and weightless. Randy Gaul made this study as one of several explorations of the truth-seeking being in Return from Exile. With the larger landscape removed, the viewer can follow the decisions that establish its personality: a concentrated gaze, elongated anatomy, and the delicate balance of a presence suspended in space.
