Golden Gate Bridge #4

The Golden Gate Bridge becomes a bold arrangement of red planes, deep blue passages and pale circular light. Bell preserves the tower’s unmistakable character while loosening its relationship to literal perspective. Openings and overlaps encourage the eye to move through the image as though through an invented structure. San Francisco’s bridge opened in 1937; here, its enduring familiarity gives Bell room to experiment, turning an engineering landmark into an exploration of color, shape and visual balance.
