Two Visitors

A human visitor and the instantly recognizable figure of E.T. share a gallery space, bringing the photograph’s title to life with a quiet visual joke. The black-and-white image gives both presences an unexpected equality: each occupies the room, each seems available to be looked at, and neither fully explains the other. For an exhibition featuring artists from the film industry, the encounter is especially apt. A screen character has entered the physical world and become another visitor among the art.
