Joel Aron

Joel Aron knows how much a world can change when the light changes. As Director of Cinematography, Lighting and Visual Effects at Lucasfilm Animation, he has helped shape the atmosphere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and The Bad Batch. His photography brings that same attention to encounters on a human scale: a conversation across a counter, a solitary figure in motion, a pause amid a crowded station. A self-taught photographer, Aron has spoken about the influence of portrait photographer Mary Ellen Mark and the painters whose light informs his screen work. His photographs make room for both the fleeting life of a city and the individual presence that can be lost within it.
