Pale ochre forms float against a black, densely speckled field, each suggesting a small organism without becoming quite identifiable. Some seem to sprout limbs or faces; others remain closer to fragments, seeds or vessels. Jacknowitz makes scale wonderfully uncertain. The image could be read as a microscopic gathering or a distant constellation, and neither reading quite settles it. Its small format encourages close inspection, where the differences between these improbable companions gradually become the real subject.
