A towering serpent rises within a luminous oval above a gathering of monkeys, crowned with an Oscar award. Randy Gaul presents the scene as a critique of an industry consumed by recognition, profits, and praise. The theatrical arrangement gives visual form to the daily strain of pursuing authenticity and meaning within that environment. Familiar entertainment imagery becomes an unsettling spectacle, asking what happens to art when admiration and self-promotion become the measures of success.
