Homage To Mom

Rounded forms overlap in pink, lavender, yellow and blue, with dark accents giving the airy arrangement a firmer rhythm. The title places the work in a personal register, while the abstraction allows that tribute to remain open rather than descriptive. Smith’s mixed-media surface brings delicacy and structure into the same space. Relationships between shapes carry the feeling of the image, making this homage something experienced through color, balance and closeness rather than a literal portrait.
