Kim Smith

Kim Smith grew up in a household where art was part of everyday life. Born in New York City to two artists and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, she later earned a BFA from Syracuse University and built a visual effects career spanning more than three decades, including twenty years at Industrial Light & Magic and work at Tippett Studio. Her credits include Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October and The Mummy. Since leaving the industry in 2021, she has devoted herself to fine art. Maps, layered surfaces and the interplay of concealment and revelation recur in her work. Drawing, painting and collage become ways to explore how a world can be pictured, remembered and imaginatively remade.
