Between Thoughts

Overlapping faces emerge from a red-orange field, their features repeated and partially interrupted by surrounding marks. A small ornamental object and quieter passages of pale paint complicate the space around them. Ceballos gives thought a visible rhythm without reducing it to an illustration. The portrait seems to contain successive states of attention rather than a single settled expression. It is a face encountered while the mind is still moving, before one feeling has become the next.
