This narrow, cutout figure seems ready to take a place in a cast of improbable characters. A yellow face, patterned dress and stacked geometric details give the cardboard silhouette a presence far larger than its footprint. The title suggests an ensemble, but the individual remains unmistakable. Barbier makes a modest support into a character with its own expression and stance, balancing theatrical exaggeration with the vulnerability of someone waiting to be seen.
