SUMMARY:TALES OF SAN FRANCISCO | Inaugural Exhibition at Moscone Center
DESCRIPTION:Tales of San Francisco\, the inaugural art exhibition at The Moscone Center\, highlights the partnership between this iconic event venue and long-serving local artistic epicenter\, 111 Minna Gallery. \nOngoing until December \nThis exhibition features the work of three local painters – Alec Huxley\, Daniel Chen\, and Ursula X. Young – who celebrate the multifarious perceptions of the City by the Bay. The storied home of the Ohlone\, Barbary Coast\, The Gold Rush\, Beat Generation\, Summer of Love\, LGBTQA+ Rights Movement\, tech/biotech revolution and more\, San Francisco has attracted dreamers of all kinds\, who consequently become immersed in and contribute to its creative culture. \nDaniel Chen explores the way technology has affected our visual language\, and shapes the way we think and remember the past. Much like memories\, Chen’s oil paintings\, upon first glance\, appear to be blurry\, abstract colors and shapes. On closer inspection – and especially through a phone or camera lens – they chronicle a specific moment in San Francisco: Giants Ballpark\, the Tenderloin\, and Market Street. \nUrsula Xanthe Young’s urban fairy tale images have become a trademark of street culture in San Francisco and beyond. A painter\, illustrator\, designer\, and muralist\, Young’s fine-lined illustrations and colorful modern paintings exude the whimsical\, soulful\, and free spirit of the city. Her rendering of skin tone is a mix of Impressionism and pixelation\, resulting in portraits of universal feminine beauty. \nAlec Huxley’s cinematic scenes serve as imperfect records of place\, time\, and architecture. His work is simultaneously stark and colorful\, depicting space travelers in different San Francisco neighborhoods. His process of manifesting his personal vision involves photography\, digital composition\, and acrylic painting. \nPresented by The Moscone Center and 111 Minna Gallery. Curated by Olivia Ongpin. Tales Of San Francisco Team: Ken Bukowski\, Leonie Patrick\, Ryan Coate\, Suzanne Goodman\, Michelle Delaney\, Richard Ciccarone\, Olivia Ongpin\, Alex Muscat\, David Young V\, Daniel Kokin\, Mykola Bereza.

SUMMARY:Echoes of Home | Exhibition Opening at Presidio Theatre
DESCRIPTION:FREE public event | RSVP required \nEchoes of Home brings together the work of Kuntal and Lucas Antony\, whose practices explore how home is carried across borders through memory\, color\, and lived experience. \nKuntal’s vivid\, dreamlike paintings draw from Rajasthan’s culture and Hindu mythology\, translating music and emotion into visual form. Lucas Antony\, a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist shaped by a global\, nomadic life\, uses a recurring palette of blue and orange to explore identity\, belonging\, and place through travel\, architecture\, and the body. \nPresented in partnership with 111 Minna Gallery and the Presidio Theatre\, Echoes of Home transforms the gallery into a shared public space—where visual art and performance intersect to create connection and belonging. \nSpecial Performance by Will Marsh \nExperience a live performance by globally acclaimed sitarist and guitarist Will Marsh. Blending Hindustani classical traditions with jazz\, world music\, and original compositions\, Marsh brings a rich\, transportive sound shaped by over two decades of international study and performance. His innovative yet deeply rooted style offers a vibrant musical complement to Echoes of Home. \nOpening Reception: March 11\, 6–8 PM \nFree and open to the public with rsvp. Featuring an artist-to-artist conversation led by Rhonel Roberts\, light bites\, and a special performance.
